Athena Samonte

Hi there! I'm Athena Samonte, a University freshman in Canada, hoping to study Behavioural Neuroscience.

When I am not studying, I am volunteering at my local hospital or working on projects for the non-profits that I am a part of. I enjoy being able to give back to my community at large and help others wherever I can.

In my free time, I love to read both fact and fiction and you will never see me without a book in arms reach. I also love photography and run a small business called Footnote Photography!

As a Senior Director at Reach for the Stars, I am in charge of overseeing all departments and overall management of the organization. I joined Reach for the Stars as I have a passion for teaching and believe that everyone has the right to a fair and quality education. The pandemic has also greatly impacted students' ability to learn and Reach for the Stars is hoping to help combat this.

Reach for the Stars has greatly impacted me and helped me foster my time management and problem-solving abilities. I have created many meaningful connections at Reach for the Stars that I will cherish for years to come amongst my fellow senior directors (Annie, Kameron, and Vicky!), executive board, and even the core team.

1. Notion is my lifesaver! I use Notion to plan everything in my life and fulfill my organizational needs.
2. I have never broken a bone!
3. I have an unusual obsession with making oddly specific Spotify playlists for various moods!
